I have always been passionate about writing blogs and sharing my ideas and opinions with others. That is why I was excited when I saw the announcement of a four-week training on blog writing and personal branding at the Somali Public Agenda (SPA) on their social media Facebook page. I applied immediately and was lucky enough to be selected among the trainees.
The training also emphasized the significance of branding. In this blog post, I will reflect on the expectations and opportunities that came along with the challenges I faced and the valuable lessons learned from the training.

Expectations
I recently completed a four-week training program on blog writing and personal branding at the Somali Public Agenda (SPA). It started when I came across the program on the SPAs’ social media pages. As someone who was passionate about blog writing, I quickly applied and became excited to improve my skills and to explore the world of expression.
I had some knowledge of blogging before enrolling in the training course. However, my goal was to improve my writing skills and to learn strategies to capture and retain my readers. Additionally, I intended to use my blog to promote my brand, because I wanted to improve my online reputation and trust.
My expectations from the training were to learn how to write engaging and informative blogs, how to use a variety of platforms and tools to publish and promote, and to build my personal brand as a blogger. I hope to network with other aspiring bloggers and learn from their experience and feedback.
Furthermore, my expectations from training were very high, and I look forward to learning more about the complexity of personal branding and the art of effective blogging. I also expected to gain useful tools to improve my writing and online visibility, and I was excited about the prospect of being mentored by SPA's seasoned specialists.
Later, I was impressed by the programme’s fruitfulness. This provided a genuinely priceless experience. I gained an understanding of blog writing techniques from the course, which included making content more effective for online platforms and crafting stories. Additionally, I understood the importance of using personal branding to create a unique online presence.
Opportunities and Challenges
This training provided me with opportunities to practice and improve my blog writing and personal branding skills.
The most important aspects of the training was meeting new friends and mentors, which I have never met before. Each of us has potential abilities and creativity, and we have learned a lot from one another. I am grateful for the connections and friendships that I made during the training.
One of the main challenges I encountered was discovering my distinctive voice and niche in the crowded online sphere. It takes time and experimentation to identify the topics and writing style that truly resonate with audiences..
lessons learnt
This Training was an eye-opening, transformative experience. I learned much from experienced trainers, professional bloggers, and personal branding experts. I was taught and learned the essential skills and techniques of blog writing.
Both were practical and profound during the four-week study period. I discovered the power of storytelling to engage readers and the importance of consistency in maintaining an online presence. The training not only enriched my writing style but also provided me with tools to strategically shape my blog writing skills, aligning them with my values and aspirations.
Way forward
I am proud to complete the training and become a blogger. I feel more confident and prepared to pursue my passion and career as a blogger. I am grateful to the SPA for providing an amazing opportunity to trainers and mentors for their guidance and support.
I am motivated to act on insights gained from this training in my future endeavors. Strengthening my blogging skills and continuously refining my personal brands are top priorities.
I plan to continue writing and publishing, promoting my blog, and continuing to learn and grow as a blogger.
Conclusion
The one-month blog writing training at the SPA Centre for Learning and Development was life-changing. It went wonderfully, with my passion for blogging. This has greatly supported my writing skills development.
